Praising and Brewing

Today we all went to church as we do most Sundays. We attend a church called Christ Memorial Church in Poulsbo, WA. CMC is a great place to worship. One of the things that I like best about our church is the nurturing they provide for children. Conan loves going to church. While we are in service, Conan goes upstairs and spends his time with other 2 and 3 year olds. Today he made us two pictures which he colored and decorated by attaching stickers and paper. I scanned the two he did today so that you could see them here.

I think that these pictures show superior scribbling techniques. They make us very proud. If anyone would like to learn more about our church, you can visit http://www.christmemorial.net/.

Aside from attending church, the only other thing I did this weekend that was interesting was . . . make home-made beer! For those of you that don't already know, I became a home brewer a year and a half back (much to Kandah's regret). On Saturday I brewed an India Brown Ale recipe. Over the next month, the beer will ferment and then I will bottle it. Once packaged, the ale will bottle condition for another few weeks. By the end of March it will be ready to enjoy! However, I'm going to let it do some wine like aging so that it will become even tastier. My plan is to share it with my Dad when he comes to visit in late summer. If anyone else is in the area at that time, feel free to come by and enjoy a bottle for yourself.

In and Out

If you haven't spent much time in the Seattle/Puget Sound area, then you may not realize what it is like to view sunshine as a rarity. During the rainy season (which is most of the year), it is not uncommon to go for weeks at a time without the clouds breaking. Therefore, on the rare occasion that we have a sunny day people tend to get outdoors in a hurry. It is not unheard of for a business to let its employees off for a "sun day" as opposed to a snow day. So while Dad was at work, Conan and Mom made sure that they soaked up the rays . . . as much as they could in February.

But don't get the wrong idea, we have plenty of fun on gloomy days as well. Conan's favorite indoor activities include playing with Play-Doh, watching his favorite movie (Cars), and terrorizing his parents. Today, we had some arts and crafts fun. I am sure my brothers will appreciate knowing that we made Conan his first "Powersuit" today. Here are some pics.

Well, that's all about sun days and fun days. These things are commonplace for us, but I understand that those of you who live elsewhere don't get to experience Conan much. Hopefully some pictures and video can help.

For Friends and Family

I decided to start a blog about our family in order to stay connected with friends and family back home. I expect that most of this blog will revolve around updates regarding the kid(s), but I'm sure Kandah and myself will generate something noteworthy from time to time. So if you're a family member or a friend, please drop by this site from time to time and see what is going on with the Washington Taylors.

The big news right now is Kandah's pregnancy. We are thrilled to have our family grow. Mom is healthy and so is baby. The little one is expected to arrive between August 20 - 28. We are grooming Conan to become a responsible big brother. He has made a dedicated effort to get out of diapers by the time his little sis/bro show up. Of course, we will be there to cheer him on every step of the way.
